Zone Read
The Golden Rule of Coast is that Waypoints and Exits have to be on Water Level.
Generally Walk East / North-East to identify the direction the Layout is going. Follow along the Coast and try to get a Layer down for each Layer that you go upwards. A Layer up is indicated by a Ledge / Slope.
There is one variant that goes southwards. You will notice you are in the south variant if you enter the zone facing west and notice no Major identifier or Slope when walking east.
When identifying the Layout as the Long Coast, consider logging to Town and making a new Instance, it is faster than running the Zone.
Major Zone Identifier
There are 2 major Zone Identifiers, the Handgun and the Water Corner
For the Handgun Layout check the Wall behind it, if you can't walk past it (like in Image 3), head south / south-east. If you can walk past it (like in Image 4), follow along the opposite Zone Edge to get to the last Ledge downwards and Waypoint.
For the Water Corner Layout check the Water Corner that you will walk into if you go straight North-East. If it is an Indent (like in Image 6 and 7), you can got a longer coast, but not the Long Coast. To differentiate between Variant 6 and Variant 7, Variant 6 opens up after the The Wall right above the indent.
If you get a Water Corner (like in Image 8), it is the Long Coast Layout.
